ACER LAUNCHES TOUCHPORTAL SOFTWARE TO MAKE ITS TABLETS MORE FINGER-FRIENDLY

Windows 7 incorporates a number of touch-friendly features. For instance, there is support for gestures such as pinch-to-zoom and tap-and-drag. The task bar is bigger than it was on previous versions and features large icons that can be easily launched by tapping with your fingers. The online keyboard is also designed for your fingers rather than the stylus. Nevertheless, in a bid to make their tablet PCs more touch-friendly, Asus and Acer have developed their own suite of touch-friendly applications.

While the Asus Eee PC T91MT and the T101MT feature Asus TouchGate software, Acer has bundled its TouchPortal software suite with Aspire 1820P convertible tablet. The Acer TouchPortal is essentially an answer to Asus TouchGate.

The TouchPortal software provides a full screen user interface, touch-friendly movie and music players and some video games. Whether you need the software is up to you to decide.
