BROADCOM HD VIDEO ACCELERATOR NOW COMPATIBLE WITH MORE MEDIA PLAYERS

The Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator allows netbooks powered by Intel Atom processors to play 1080p HD video with minimal difficulty. The problem is that many media players do not work well with the Broadcom video card. So if yours doesn’t support the card you will have to be content watching a slideshow rather than a full-motion movie. The list of supporting applications is, nevertheless, growing.

Broadcom recently released a new version of its HD video accelerator driver. It now works well with media players such as Windows Media Player 12, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre, CyberLink PowerDVD and Adobe Flash Player 10.1.

The following freeware media players are also compatible.
* GOM Player
* KMPlayer
* Media Player Classic

The new driver supports the Broadcom BCM70012 and BCM70015 cards. It is designed to work with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Source code for Linux drivers is also available.
