Step 3: Touch on “Edit” and then on “Add”. You will be prompted to enter a url source as seen in the screenshot below. Type “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” and touch on “Add Source”.

Cydia will now automatically update your sources by following a series of automated steps.

Step 4: Once the repository has been added successfully, Search for “ultrasn0w” in Cydia and install this application. The latest version 0.92 of this app will automatically unlock your iPhone so that you can use it with any carrier with proper carrier name/logo.

The iPad Pros and Cons

The iPad is Apple’s newest gadget. The iPad is technically defined as a tablet computer and marketed as a platform for audio and visual media as well as web content. In many ways the iPad is like Apple’s iPhone and iTouch, but larger. The screen display is 25 cm or 9.7 inches with 1024 x 768 pixels and weighs only one and a half pounds. It runs on the same operating system as earlier iPod Touch and iPhones and is controlled by a multitouch display sensitive to up to eleven fingers. The iPad uses Wi-Fi or a 3G mobile data connection so that one may browse the Internet, load and stream media and install software.

While the idea of a tablet computer is not new to Apple, it seems with the iPhone entering the market in 2007, consumers were more prepared to use a device ran by a touchscreen interface upon its later release. On January 27, 2010, Steve Jobs of Apple announced the iPad and with that, consumers have been gobbling them up. Analysts guess that Apple could sell up to 5 million units in the product’s first 12 months.

Like the iPhone, the iPad responds to the orientation in which it is being held – portrait, landscape-left and landscape-right. The device also has two internal speakers and an audio-out jack if one would like to connect stereo sound headphones. There is also a microphone for voice recording, a built-in Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR interface that allows wireless headphones and keyboards to be used with the iPad. If the screen isn’t big enough already, one can connect an external display or television to the device.

The battery used to provide the power for all of these bells and whistles is an internal lithium-ion polymer battery which is designed to be charged with a high current and should provide up to 10 hours of video, 140 hours of audio playback or a one month on standby.

In regards to storage, the iPad was released with three options for internal storage: a 16, 32 and 64 GB flash drive. There is no option to expand storage. The iPad is ready to run virtually all the 150,000 applications that have been created for the iPhone over the past two years. Thousands more designed specifically for the iPad will also be arriving on the scene including versions of Mac-based word processing, spreadsheets, presentation apps and such.

What is the downside of the iPad? As usual with Apple, one can only by software for the system through Apple. When it comes to web browsers, you can only use Safari, the one made by Apple. You can’t play videos that are created in Adobe’s Flash software, which is about 75 percent of all web videos, including videos from Hulu.com. When you buy from Apple’s iTunes, the software is encrypted so that you can only run it on Apple devices – which means, should you purchase another device down the road, you won’t be able to take your content with you.

What changes are already being discussed for the next generation of the iPad? It is most likely to sport a camera. This could mean the ability to use FaceTime for video chatting as well.

Like almost all of Apples iProducts – the iPad can be jailbroke. Once jailbroken, iPad users can download many applications previously unavailable through the App Store. But remember jailbreaking an Apple product isn’t easy and doing so voids all Apple’s warranties on their devices. Jailbreaking the iPad might void your Apple warranty and even your terms of service from AT&T, but there is no need to worry now. The US government has just ruled the practice legal under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The exemption applies for three years until the next rulemaking review, bringing the practices of independent software developers into the mainstream.

It is obvious this is only the first in a series of attacks to be launched against these popular cell phones.

Apple iPhone is nothing but a small mini computer with a phone in it. This makes it voulnerable to attacks from malicious software makers.

The “Ikee” worm creater put the source code open on the internet for others to explore and to exploit as a starting point for more sophisticated worms and viruses to be used against the iPhone.

First you will need to download the Mobileterminal software;

This is a distribution software for Unix software for iPhone OS 3. The software is written by Allen Porter.

Then you install this software and connect your iPhone to the PC and start the process of changing the root password according to these instructions;

Here is a little bit more information to help you protect your iphone to hacks.

A Dutch hacker demoed this week of how easy it is to gain access to an iPhone when it is jailbroken, running the SSH service, and has not had its default admin-level passwords changed.

These stories were a great reminder that we should all make a habit of changing the default passwords for the iPhone’s two primary admin accounts (usernames mobile and root) – as once somebody gains root level access to an iPhone, all sorts of bad things can happen.

How To Change The iPhone’s Default Admin Account Passwords:

*** These instructions assume you are running iPhone OS 3.0 or above on your device – other firmware versions may vary in their default passwords.  You also, of course, need to be jailbroken, and running the SSH service if you wish to use one of the methods that connect to the iPhone via a PC to make the changes.

You can use applications on the iPhone itself or on your PC to make these password changes.  Please note – you only need to use one of these methods, not all three.

Here are three walk-throughs for three common apps on iPhone, Mac, and PC:

On the iPhone:

The app to use on the iPhone is called MobileTerminal and it’s available for free in the Cydia store.

Once you have MobileTerminal installed, launch it and you should see a prompt saying this or similar:

iPhoneName: ~ Mobile$

At that prompt, type: passwd You’ll be prompted for the ‘old’ (current) password for the mobile user.  Enter this as the old password: alpine You’ll then be prompted to enter the new password – so just type in your desired new password.  Use good password principles if possible (long and stong).  You will not see characters appearing on the screen as you type – that’s normal, not a concern. You’ll then be prompted to re-enter the new password.  Do that. You should then be returned to the Mobile$ prompt that you started on when opening the MobileTerminal app.  There’s no success message to say the password was changed – but if you’re returned to the prompt and do not get an error, the change was successful.  And you’re done with change for the mobile account. The second primary admin account for the iPhone is called root – so now you need to change that as well. Type this to switch to the root user: login root You’ll be prompted for the root user’s current password.  Enter this: alpine Type this to start the password change routine again: passwd Enter the old password for root (it is ‘alpine’, same as for the mobile user) and enter your desired new password twice, just as you did for the mobile account

Done.

You should now have been able to change the password and your iPhone should be protected against at least 4 different variations of the “Ikee” worm launced during the last week.

However, you are not protected against any new variations of the worm or new types, so you are encouraged to follow closely on the internet security web pages to see any new development of virus and worm attacks on your iphone.

ipad jailbreak?

I have recently heard that the Jailbreak of an iPad is done!!! I am not sure about this because my cousin was telling me about this and even he was not sure. I always liked to do the jail-breaking but I am shocked that recently launched IPAD was also jail-breaked.!! Hope that guys hanging over there would be interested in commenting on this topic.

Yeah, the NEWS that you heard is true. It’s been quite a lot of people waiting for the jailbreak iPad is now possible for both two models iPad iPad WiFi and 3G, but also for iPhone and iPod touch, equipped with Apple OS 3.1.2, 3.1.3 and 3.2. The software to jailbreak the iPad was put online a little time on the Internet. Its name: “Spirit” is intended to be a universal jailbreak for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. I have not used that but I am sure that it will work..

You heard the right that the Jailbreak of an iPad is done successfully. It did not take long to break down whatever defenses iPad. It is possible to send instructions to SSH into the touch pad from Apple: a mission impossible if we did not make the jailbreak iPad. For now, Spirit has not been made public and no release date has been advanced. The vulnerability exploited here to make the jailbreak iPad reside at the level of vulnerability already present in the latest iPhone and iPod Touch. In theory, a tool to jailbreak iPhone 3G, iPod, iPad Touch 3G and could therefore soon be made available to Internet users. Note that for the moment, nothing says that Spirit will be able to handle models iPad equipped with 3G.

The jailbreak is completely software, and simple to use as BlackRa1n . It is completely free to reconnect without rebooting, and also works on newer models. It is likely that also works on iPad. You know the “tethered jailbreak” the jailbreak which requires connecting the iPhone to reboot every practice … Not really a vacation when it has exhausted its battery on the phone!!! Surprisingly, 24 hours after the start of the sale of the iPad, hackers have managed to jailbreak the iPad. It is unclear what method the hackers have used and the time for this jailbreak IPAD am disposition made public.

At present we can only speculate as to when the team will make available a tool to jailbreak the iPad. Two key moments that could affect this yet, the release of firmware 3.2 for iPhone and iPod touch and the launch of the 3G version of the IPAD. This will probably work on jailbreak the latest iPhone 3Gs and the second(Model TM) and 3rd generation iPod Touch, which currently are only jailbreak tethered. The 4G Forum IPAD following the draft loan and will not fail you informed of the outcome of the IPAD jailbreak.

i’m computer illiterite so ill try to construct this short. i put in the flash drive, i open up the file near the songs in chronicle form. Then i hit import on my itunes, a box comes up and i open out up the file from the f drive, adjectives the songs are listed in that but here’s where i’m lost, i cant chose any function save for “open” from the box, it wont import to itunes. within the past ive select “play” and i believe it add to itunes but following when i try to play the song it states cannot find. i hope this makes sense, call for advice please

My MP3 has worked a short time ago fine with downloading songs until in a minute… I connect it to my computer, and go to the ‘my computer’ statue. Everything works just fine until I click on MP3. I can click on the Sansa Icon, and be in motion to media, after I click on music, and it shows up with the MP3 folder. I hold to wait longer than usual for the folder to nouns, but when it finally goes to the subsequent page, nothing is nearby! Its like I never downloaded anything! I don’t suppose I have to hang around for the songs, cause they should already be here like they other are, and it shows that its done loading. So when I disconnect my MP3, I still have adjectives the songs…they just won’t show up on the computer…so minister to me? i don’t know whats wrong with it. Step 3: Also download the iPhone OS 3.0 firmware from the location below and put in under the Pwnage folder.

Step 4: Extract the redsn0w executable (.exe) from the zip file into the Pwnage folder.

Step 5: Now connect your iPhone 3GS to the computer and launch the iTunes.

Step 6: Select your iPhone from the list of devices mentioned on the left hand side.
Click and hold down Option and click the Restore button.

Step 7: Go to the Pwnage folder. Select the firmware with the extension .ipsw and click the Open button to continue.
Note: If you are already on iPhone OS 3.0 then you may skip this step completely.

Step 8: Once iTunes finishes updating your iPhone, launch the redsn0w.app from the Pwnage folder on your desktop.

Step 9: After the redsn0w opens up click on the Browse button.

Step 10: Now, select the firmware ipsw that you had placed into Pwnage folder and click Open button.

Step 11: After the firmware has been verified, click the Next button to continue.

Step 12: Make sure that you select the check box for Cydia and click the Next button.

Step 13: Now redsn0w will instruct you on how to put your iPhone 3GS into the recovery mode.
Disconnect your iPhone from the computer and power it OFF.
Hold down the Home button while you reconnect your iPhone 3GS to the computer.

Note: Do not let go of the Home button until redsn0w detects your iPhone and begins the installation.

Step 14: Your iPhone will now reboot itself.

Step 15: redsn0w will then start to upload the new RAM Disk and the kernel on your iPhone.

Step 16: redsn0w will notify you when it’s completed. Click on the Finish button.

Step 17: Your iPhone 3GS should take about 5 minutes to reboot, and once it finishes rebooting it will be jailbroken with Cydia installed on the SpringBoard.

2. Launch Cydia from your home screen. In the bottom bar, tap on Manage.

3. Select Sources, then tap on Edit at the top right corner.

4. Tap on Add in the top left corner, and there will be a window popping up that says “Enter Cydia/APT URL”.

5. Enter “repo.benm.at/” after “http://” in the blank, and tap on “Add Source”. Cydia will start downloading releases and reloading data. Let it finish and press “Done” at the top right corner.

6. In the bottom bar, tap on “Search”, in the upper search bar, search for “frash”.

7. Tap on “frash” in the results, and hit “Install” button at the top right corner.

8. Let it finish and reboot your iPhone.
